Definition

A complete explanation of the intended meaning of a concept
  • Climatic phenomena associated with natural processes or human intervention in the environment that last for a long time. In the past decades, climate changes have been associated with the emission of greenhouse gases (GHG) and their concentration in the atmosphere, which result in increased global temperature and, consequently, in environmental disasters of different intensities, such as the melting of polar caps, storms, droughts, tornadoes, among others. According to the 2014 Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report, the increase in GHG concentration in the atmosphere is mainly due to anthropic activity. In Brazil, it is known that agricultural activity is correlated to a large amount of GHG emissions. In an attempt to reduce the emission index, the country committed itself to the United Nations (UN) to promote strategies for mitigating GHG emissions and actions aimed at adapting to climate change, later established in the Brazilian Plan for Low Carbon Emission in Agriculture (ABC Plan).
