Brazilian Plan for Low Carbon Emission in Agriculture
Definition
A complete explanation of the intended meaning of a concept- Plan coordinated by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (MAPA) and the Ministry of Agrarian Development (MDA) (Brazil) with the purpose of promoting actions aimed at reducing GHG emissions in the scope of agricultural production, in compliance with the commitment of Brazil to the United Nations (UN) established during the 2009 United Nations Conference on Climate Change, also known as COP15. This plan, conventionalized as the ABC Plan, consists of seven programs, six of which are aimed at strategies and technologies for mitigating GHG emissions, such as the implementation of integrated systems in agricultural production, and the other one aimed at actions related to adaptation to climate change. The plan also has the support of a credit line for producers to facilitate the implementation of these sustainable measures, called Brazilian Program for Low Greenhouse Gas Emission in Agriculture (see entry).
