COMPACI

The Competitive African Cotton Initiative (COMPACI) was a multi-stakeholder development program launched in 2008 to improve the productivity, incomes, and living conditions of smallholder cotton farmers in Sub-Saharan Africa. Founded in 2008 by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). It was implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and the German Investment and Development Company (DEG), alongside private cotton companies and the Aid by Trade Foundation.
