Agrotermos

Preferred term

longitude

Imaginary lines that cross the surface of the Earth, running from north to south, measuring how far east or west of the prime meridian a place is located. Unlike latitude, which has the Equator as a natural starting position, there is no natural starting position for longitude. Therefore, a reference meridian had to be chosen.
