small-scale food producers
Broader concept
Broader conceptScope note
Notes about the usage and scope of the concept.- The four most commonly used criteria for the definition of “small-scale food producers” in the literature are: land size (or number of livestock heads), labour input (especially of family members), market orientation, and economic size of the holding (gross monetary value of agricultural production). Notably, just as not all family farmers are small-scale producers, not all small-scale producers are family farmers.
