controlled traffic farming
Definition
A complete explanation of the intended meaning of a concept- Controlled-traffic farming (CTF) is a crop production system in which the crop zone and traffic lanes are distinctly and permanently separated. In practice, it requires: a. use of the same wheel tracks for all field operations; b. all machines to have the same wheel-track setting; c. all implements to have a particular span or multiple of it.
- El tráfico agrícola controlado es una estrategia para minimizar la compactación del suelo. Consiste en limitar el tránsito de la maquinaria a áreas definidas, sin que los neumáticos rueden sobre el terreno de producción.

Scope note
Notes about the usage and scope of the concept.- Controlled traffic farming should not be confused with tramline systems, which just provide guidance for chemical applicators but do not offer permanent separation of wheels and crops. Controlled traffic farming is used to reduce the damage to soils caused by heavy or repeated agricultural machinery passes on the land.
