Scope note

  • Different identification devices, such as tattoos, tags or electronic devices are used for identifying animals, depending on the code structure and the animal species. Typically, the mode of identification is easily visible to the human eye. In some situations, however, visible identification is supplemented by electronic identification (e.g. electronic ear tags, ruminal boluses and chips).
