A complete explanation of the intended meaning of a concept- Implica la justicia y la imparcialidad en el trato a las mujeres y los hombres en lo que atañe a los derechos, beneficios y obligaciones para que los recursos y las oportunidades se distribuyan de forma justa entre ellos. Esto exige a menudo la asignación de recursos adicionales para las mujeres a fin de superar desigualdades muy arraigadas en el acceso a medios para lograr la mejora personal y el empoderamiento. Este proceso conduce a la igualdad de género.
- Implies fairness and impartiality in the treatment of women and men in terms of rights, benefits and obligations so that resources and opportunities are distributed fairly between them. Notes about the usage and scope of the concept.- This concept has different implications in different countries because it is based on different cultural standards, it is usually based on the traditional perception that women and men do not necessarily have the same needs and rights. ALSO: Gender equality, equality between men and women, entails the concept that all human beings, both men and women, are free to develop their personal abilities and make choices without the limitations set by stereotypes, rigid gender roles and prejudices. Gender equality means that the different behaviour, aspirations and needs of women and men are considered, valued and favoured equally. It does not mean that women and men have to become the same, but that their rights, responsibilities and opportunities will not depend on whether they are born male or female. Gender equity means fairness of treatment for women and men, according to their respective needs. This may include equal treatment or treatment that is different but which is considered equivalent in terms of rights, benefits, obligations and opportunities.
