agroforestry system

Generic term used to designate land use systems that involve the integration of woody species (trees, shrubs, palms etc.), agricultural crops and/or animal rearing in some form of spatial or temporal arrangement. In these integration systems economic diversification, preservation of natural resources and ecological interaction between components are valued, according to the local agricultural practices. Thus, it can be said that the ILF, ICF and ICLF systems are models of agroforestry systems.
