Notes about the usage and scope of the concept.- En 2002 la especie del virus del enrollamiento de la hoja de las cucurbitáceas fue denominada así por el Grupo de Estudio sobre los Geminivirus del Comité Internacional sobre la Taxonomía de los Virus (ICTV). En 2009 su nombre fue cambiado por virus de la hoja arrugada de las cucurbitáceas por el Comité Ejecutivo del ICTV, GenBank: AF256200, AF327559. El segmento A Arizona AF256200 fue denominado como virus de la hoja arrugada de las cucurbitáceas, mientras que los demás fueron llamados virus del enrollamiento de la hoja de las cucurbitáceas.
